Reese Witherspoon + Nicole Kidman + HBO + dark comedy? Our day = made.
Variety reports that the talented pair, along with writer/producer David E. Kelley, have signed on to star in a limited HBO series titled Big Little Lies.
The black comedy will chronicle the stories of three seemingly perfect young mothers, whose idyllic lives spiral out of control.
Kelley is currently adapting the series from a 2014 novel of the same name, penned by author Liane Moriarty.
Witherspoon and Kidman aren't the first big-name movie stars to head back to television. Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson's limited HBO series True Detective was met with great fanfare and critical acclaim last year. The second season of the series, starring Rachel McAdams, Colin Farrell and Vince Vaughn, is set to premiere on HBO in late June.
But back to Big Little Lies. In addition to starring in the series, Witherspoon and Kidman are also slated to executive produce alongside Kelley. The release date has not been released, but we obviously can't wait!
