Lily Allen has never been one to filter herself. She's worn a beanie with "Cunt" on it, she has no shame bashing celebrities — and herself in the process — about the BS of pop culture, and, just today, she went sans filter on Instagram to show a close-up of her recent breakout bout.
The singer captioned the photo, "How is it fair that I get acne at 30? #firstworldproblems." In a similar vein, Chrissy Teigen posted a picture of her stretch marks — or "stretchies," as she so intimately calls them — just last month. And, last year, there was Lorde's acne cream selfie.
We have to say, we're totally down with celebrities addressing the fact that they're actually just like us with photographic evidence. While our feeds are usually filled with selfies from friends and celeb friends-in-our-heads that are manipulated or Valencia-d to look their best (no shade, we're guilty of this, too), it's a relief to see some real skin problems that we've all dealt with at one point or another — particularly from those in the spotlight who are showing them off to their millions of followers. Imperfections are universal, after all.
As hard as we may try to fake #flawless, the truth is there's no such thing — we all have "flaws" of some kind. More power to celebrities who choose to highlight this fact. Clap for 'em.
