Conrad Sewell is a name you need to know. But, don’t take our word for it — the 25-year-old Australian singer has already won over Ed Sheeran and charmed his way through an interview with Kathie Lee and Hoda Kotb.
Sheeran was so impressed with Sewell’s first singles that Taylor Swift’s needlepoint partner-in-crime asked the long-haired Aussie to join him on tour. Sewell opened for Sheeran when they conquered the stages of Australia and New Zealand this year. Plus, Sewell has been signed by Lyor Cohen, the former CEO of Warner Music Group, who launched the career of a guy whose name you may already know: Jay-Z.
With his new single “Hold Me Up,” Sewell combines vocals similar to Sheeran's at his most excited with a free-ranging soulful sound reminiscent of Elton John in his early days. Here is the music video, which showcases one of Sewell’s other talents: he’s quite the looker.
