Despite being a mass-market brand through and through, Target does an excellent job catering to nearly every type of shopper with its designer collaborations. From indie home goods to buzzy young innovators to collections with a humanitarian bent, Target's partnerships cover the entire style spectrum. Fresh off the huge success of its preppy (and polarizing) Lilly Pulitzer collection, the company announced this morning that it's teaming up with accessories designer Eddie Borgo on a (customizable!) line of jewelry, handbags, and wall art. A 2010 CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund runner-up and 2011 CFDA Swarovski Award winner, the New York designer has been a fashion industry favorite for years now. Known for an aesthetic that's equal parts punky and architectural, his signature motifs include spikes, chains, and pyramid shapes. These bold designs are meant for mixing, matching, and piling on — and that's exactly what customers can do with this Target collab, since practically every item is customizable. After choosing a "main" piece, like a bag or a necklace, you can purchase additional charms, studs, and totem bars to give each look a decidedly personal touch. As Borgo explained in the press release, “When designing this collection, I was inspired by the idea of modernizing the 1960s and 1970s craft culture and empowering people to be creative." Given the sheer amount of options — available in materials such as resin, brass mesh, and chains — your outfit can swing from bohemian festival-goer to '90s punk kid with a single clasp. With prices ranging from $7.99 to $49.99, this is DIY made easy and affordable. Make room in your jewelry box now; Eddie Borgo for Target hits stores July 12.
