We’ve been chronicling the journey of five-year-old former leukemia
patient Miles ever since he took over the Bay as Batkid back in 2012. Make-A-Wish transformed S.F. into a real-life Gotham City with help from over 10,000 volunteers, creating movie-worthy
scenes starring everyone from The Riddler to The Joker (there was even a
Batmobile involved) and fulfilling the young boy’s dream to play superhero for a
day.
The event spawned such national interest that it was announced that an official documentary would be released this summer. The film highlights the days leading up to the takeover, shares Miles' and his parents' struggles in coping with his cancer, and finally, captures the excitement of the boy and the city the day it all went down.
The
official trailer was released today, and let's just say you're going to want to keep a box of tissues handy. Beyond the documentary — which will be released in select cities on June 26 —
Julia Roberts has apparently signed off on another movie centered on Miles' story, which she will star in and produce.
