Attention: Chris Pine fans, prepare to freak out, just a bit. From Captain Kirk to Steve Trevor — Pine might be joining the Wonder Woman cast, Variety reports. The beloved Star Trek actor is in talks to join the Warner Bros. superhero film, playing opposite Gal Gadot as the story's leading man, Steve Trevor.
The studio has yet to confirm, but we can't help but hope the big news is true. After all, it's easy to see Pine as a perfect fit for the role. In the comic book series, Trevor is a fallen U.S. Army intelligence officer during World War II, who ends up at the center of an epic love story after being brought back to health by Diana, an Amazon princess.
Scott Eastwood was rumored to be in contention for the role initially, before the studio went on to test multiple other actors, and eventually chose to approach A-list stars, according to Variety. Pine reportedly stole the hearts of Gadot and top executives in his meeting, which we don't find surprising in the least.
If our dreams do come true, we have yet another reason to look forward to the female-led superhero movie. The highly anticipated Wonder Woman film is set to hit theaters in 2017. (Variety)
