Not to sound cynical, but it's almost starting to seem like you can't find everlasting love on a reality television show. I know; I was as shocked as you to come to that realization. The latest case study is that of recent Bachelor, Chris Soules. The well-meaning farmer from Iowa just wanted to meet the woman of his dreams and get married. When he proposed to Whitney Bischoff and she accepted, it seemed like he was going to get his wish.
Wrong. So very, very wrong. E! News just confirmed that Soules and Bischoff have called off their engagement just two months after Soules popped the question on the season finale of The Bachelor. The couple released an official statement to E!, which reads: "Whitney Bischoff and Chris Soules have mutually and amicably decided to end their engagement. They part with nothing but respect and admiration for one another and will continue to be supportive friends. They wish to thank everyone who has supported them through this journey."
We've reached out to representatives at The Bachelor's production company to see if Soules and Bischoff have broken up completely or have only ended their engagement.
The demise of another Bachelor couple is just the latest in a long string of setbacks for the romance-touting show. The twin franchise has been in the news constantly since the premiere of the latest season of The Bachelorette, which features Kaitlyn Bristowe — a contestant from Chris Soules' season — on her search for a husband. Perhaps this is a sign that the show should acknowledge its flawed portrayal of the quest for love and companionship. (E! News)
