Beloved Buffy the Vampire Slayer actor Nicholas Brendon checked into rehab on Monday. His rep Andrea Albin shared the news on his Facebook page.
Brendon, who played Xander on the series, "entered a rehabilitation facility in California to treat his depression, alcoholism, and substance abuse problems," the post stated. "He’s taking the steps necessary to better his health and give himself, and his fans, the gift of a healthy lifestyle."
The actor was arrested in October. Since then, he's reportedly tried "several treatment methods," including therapy and outpatient services, "only to realize...he needed to take an extended break and treat the underlying issues of his illnesses." Rehab appeared to be the best resource for him.
Albin writes that Brendon will not be attending any events in June or July, but is expected to return in late summer following his treatment.
