Target knows how to keep us on our toes. Exactly two weeks ago, the retailer announced its latest designer collaboration with Eddie Borgo — a playful, DIY-inspired line of jewelry and handbags that’ll debut on July 12. Today we learned that Target has planted its bullseye on another high-fashion designer, Adam Lippes, for an exclusive collaboration. The choice is unexpected to say the least.
Lippes' collections are often suffused with luxe minimalism and boast thoughtful, eccentric touches — like a quirky statement knit, tassels, oversized silhouettes, and droopy peplum details. But you're not likely to find these signature qualities in his fall line for the big-name retailer. Instead, Target has brought on Lippes for a super-autumnal project, entirely centered on plaid. It's not a pattern we're accustomed to seeing from the designer, but if he can do with plaid what he can do with a quirky, oversized floral print, then we're definitely game.
The Adam Lippes for Target tartan takeover, which will include clothing, accessories, as well as pet and home goods, begins September 27.
