Kelly Clarkson Threatens “Bitch Better Have My Money” In Her Own Way

Okay guys, who is holding out on Kelly Clarkson? She's not too happy with you, so you'd best pay up quick. The "Heartbeat Song" powerhouse covered Rihanna's "Bitch Better Have My Money" for BBC Radio 1's Live Lounge on Thursday and, naturally, killed it. Not that she did a Rihanna impression, of course. The American Idol O.G. is well-versed in the Simon Cowell method of covering a song, and making you forget what the original even sounded like. Well, OK, we haven't exactly forgotten Ri's strident gangster threats, which would really haunt our dreams if we owed anyone anything at all. But this is different. Clarkson lends her soulful touch and occasional growl to the song, making it sound like she's hurt that someone would dare not pay up. Actually, knowing what she can do in songs like "Since U Been Gone," we kinda feel she could have given this a little more anger. But this is the Live Lounge, not the live MMA ring, so we'll let that pass. With the keyboard accompaniment and backup singers, Clarkson's version is almost saying, "You should pay the agreed upon amount, as written in our contract, but also, I'm so baller, I'm fine with out it. My people will take care of the dirty work if you cross me." Ahem. Or something like that.
