If you’re a fan of 2001’s Wet Hot American Summer, you probably don’t need a vintage-looking commercial to convince you that attending Camp Firewood would be the time of your life. However, that's just what you'll get with the new teaser for Netflix’s upcoming prequel series, Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp. Resembling an old-school commercial, the trailer has a low-tech, low-budget '80s vibe. You’ll catch glimpses of original camp counselors Paul Rudd, Amy Poehler, and Bradley Cooper. Plus, you’ll learn all about what Camp Firewood has to offer. “Try new activities like archery, drama, arts and crafts, water sports, and street dance,” the voice-over proclaims. There’s even a “gourmet chef.” Though fans of the movie know that Gene (Christopher Meloni) has more on his mind than just cooking — for instance, sweater-fondling. Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp consists of eight episodes and premieres on July 31, meaning the “summer of your life” truly is “just around the corner.” In addition to the original crew, including alumni Elizabeth Banks, Michael Ian Black, and Molly Shannon, newbies like Kristen Wiig, Jon Hamm, Josh Charles, and Chris Pine are joining Michael Showalter and David Wain’s universe. The binge-watching can't come soon enough.
