We're always on the hunt for the perfect sweatshirt, especially one that can match workout leggings and also compliment a fancy designer skirt. While there's no shortage of amazing options out there, our latest discovery is so fantastic that you'll want it in rotation for more than a few seasons. Luckily, this sweatshirt will go longer than that, since it is guaranteed to last at least three decades.
Created by 24-year-old English designer Tom Cridland (who already has a successful eponymous clothing line), the philosophy behind The 30 Year Sweatshirt is self-explanatory. This collection of unisex crewnecks aims to break the fast fashion cycle with its unique longevity. According to Cridland's Kickstarter campaign, many fashion brands make their clothing to purposefully fall apart — this way, customers will need to buy more. Rather than participate in this cycle of consumption (called built-in obsolescence), The 30 Year Sweatshirt aims to show that well-made clothing can truly last.
Handcrafted in Portugal, each top is made from 80% organic cotton, and 20% premium polyester. This durable combination stays true to size and form (no shrinking in the dryer, and no stretching). More importantly, if your sweatshirt happens to rip or tear before 30 years, Cridland and his team will repair it for free. Also, in step with the company's transparency, The 30 Year Sweatshirt eliminates a retailer, and offers the wholesale price of $85.
With the major problems of fast fashion currently broadcast both on the big screen, and in the news, The 30 Year Sweatshirt couldn't have come at a better time to add some fair fashion to your closet. See the full campaign here.
