Learn About The Victims Of The Chattanooga Shooting

On Thursday, Mohammad Youssuf Abdulazeez fatally shot four Marines and at a Navy operational center in Chattanooga, Tennessee. They were not identified until Friday. On Saturday morning, another victim, a Navy petty officer, succumbed to his injuries. Several other people, including a recruiter, were also wounded. Abdulazeez died in the incident. Thomas Sullivan was a Dropkick Murphys and Celtics fan from Boston, MA. He had made it home safely after two tours in Iraq. His local watering hole, Nathan Bill’s Bar & Restaurant posted on Facebook saying, “He was our hero and he will never be forgotten."

Husband and father of two, David Wyatt was originally from Arkansas and was a veteran of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. Family friend Jenna Apps told The Tennessean, "David was a great person with a contagious, fun loving and caring personality.” Marine veteran, Joseph Tyrrell, told The Washington Post that Wyatt tried to help fellow Marines returning from overseas engagements. “I know a few guys who suffered from post-traumatic stress disorder, and he’d always be like, ‘Hey man, let’s talk about it,’ ” said Tyrrell. “He really took a more direct approach to helping Marines than some others. He really did care.” A high school classmate posted the following sad tweet:

Skip Wells hailed from Marietta, Ga. Before joining the Marines, Wells played clarinet in his high school marching band and went on to be in his church orchestra. According to Wells family spokesperson Andy Kingery, Wells had finished boot camp only a year ago. Long-time friend Lindsey Pittman told The Washington Post that Wells had an easygoing nature. "He made sure that he was friendly with everybody, and I think that’s what people will remember him now that he’s passed: his friendship values.”

A Wisconsin native, Holmquist was an avid outdoorsman and spent time hunting and fishing near his hometown. He had a wife and son, with another child on the way, according to reports.

U.S. Navy Petty Officer Randall Smith

Smith saw the shooter and warned those around him, family members told CNN. But he was unable to get away. Smith was shot in the liver, colon and stomach, according to his grandmother.
