"I feel a huge responsibility to anyone who’s younger than me, in [helping her] take the road less traveled, or finding no road at all and blazing a new trail," Sandy said to Glamour.
"Usually comedy is only available to us ladies in the romantic comedy. That's why I hate romantic comedies. I want to make comedic-comedies – let's get back to being funny!" the once queen of rom-coms confessed to The Guardian.
"It was the stupidest thing I ever did," she says of the time she cheated on someone in an Entertainment Tonight interview posted by US Weekly. "You take away respect from the other person. If you respect the other person enough and you are an honorable person, before it gets to that point, you say, 'Hey listen, I'm getting ready to screw up and I know you're going to leave' and you give the person the right to walk."
"I've never been a great beauty. I've never been the bombshell that was coveted. In an odd way, that made growing older a lot easier in this business. I guess I'm doing it on my own terms, and that is my wish for everyone," she said in her cover interview for People's Most Beautiful issue.
"You don't have to give birth to someone to have a family," Sandy said to Harper's Bazaar after adopting her son, Louis. "We're all family, an extended family. I'm not going to spend two seconds of my life wishing I had something I don't. It's hard to do it your way when you hear everyone else telling you to do it their way."
"I think getting away from this business—not quitting but taking yourself out of it—is good," Sandy explained to Backstage. "I've done it three times now, and each time it's been good to get away from the outside elements and find a passion elsewhere. It's just too much if you make your career everything. It is everything when you're doing it. But you have to find things you love just as much."
"I think I've been bypassed. I've given up the title. There are other sweethearts out there. It's not an easy torch to be carrying," America's Sweetheart says of her so-called title to USA Today.
