Whitney Cummings may have just become your new hero. Even if you're no fan of 2 Broke Girls, which she co-created, or her short-lived series Whitney, in which she also starred, you've got to applaud the comedian's revelation on Today. After hosts Hoda Kotb and Kathie Lee Gifford joked that Cummings looked so good they thought she had a face lift, the guest paused her nonstop joking for a minute to answer honestly.
"I did this weird thing that nobody likes to do anymore where I gained weight," she said. "I gained, like, 25 pounds, which I think I needed to. I was way too skinny before. Here's the thing...when you're on television, you get confused. I looked like I was passing away, like I was so skinny [that] it's not attractive. I put on, like, 20 pounds and I think it filled [out my face]... People think I got a facelift."
By the way, if a gorgeous 32-year-old like Cummings seems like a valid candidate for a face-lift these days, we're just done with everything, Hollywood. And though she's probably the only person who thinks she looked like she was dying, we can't deny that her body-positive outlook suits her. The comedian is putting this "new" look to use all over the place: Cummings is touring with her stand-up show before taping a special for HBO set to air next year. In April, HBO also ordered a pilot Cummings created and stars in, based on Maureen Dowd's book, Are Men Necessary? When Sexes Collide.
