There has been some major hype surrounding the upcoming girl band flick Jem and the Holograms but this newly-released second trailer really isn't helping. The movie follows the rise of four teens who dive into YouTube superstardom and is based off the beloved '80s cartoon. However, the buildup to the big release date is falling flat.
After the first trailer was released back in May, fans weren't very happy with it and the film got quite the backlash. It seems like it may be too sugary-pop/Disney-esque for the true fans out there. The musical adventure stars Aubrey Peeples, Stefanie Scott, Aurora Perrineau, and Hayley Kiyoko, along with Juliette Lewis and Molly Ringwald. It's directed by Jon M. Chu and produced by Scooter Braun, which may be a different direction than fans were hoping for.
And it looks like Twitter fans still aren't too excited about the reboot:

I watched the new trailer for the serious tween version of Josie and the Pussycats called Jem and the Holograms. She isn't truly outrageous.

Jeez Jem and the Holograms looks so unbelievably bad. It's even worse that Molly Ringwald and Juliette Lewis are in it.

The film is set to hit theaters on October 23, so we'll see how it'll go over with fans. Take a look for yourself.
