The HBO Show About Female Friendship You Should Really Be Watching (Besides Girls)

Half-hour television shows are having a female frienaissance, and we are all for it. You're probably familiar with Abbi and Ilana from Broad City and Hannah, Marnie, Jessa, and Shoshanna from Girls. We're here to introduce you to another amazing pair of women who definitely deserve some space on your DVR.

Doll & Em
is a sweet series on HBO co-created and co-written by real-life best friends Dolly Wells and Emily Mortimer. The blink-and-you-missed-it, six-episode first season aired in 2014, and was critically lauded and earned a season two renewal. Season one saw Doll relocating from England to L.A. to become Em's (an actress) personal assistant. In season two, the friends are on more equal footing. They're trying to write a play that will "rock New York," with Olivia Wilde staring as a version of Em, and Evan Rachel Wood taking on the Doll part. In their usual Doll and Em way, of course, things don't work out exactly as they planned. Although any time you get to meet Ewan McGregor — who's also slated to guest star — things are still going pretty well (if you ask us). HBO exclusively shared the season two trailer, which you can watch below, with Refinery29. Season two of Doll & Em premieres Sunday, September 13, at 10:30 p.m.
