When we look at photos of celebrities, be they professional or the selfie variety, we are always of two minds. First, we know that they have teams of professionals for makeup, styling, lighting, and retouching. But still, we kinda, sorta beat ourselves up for not looking anywhere near as good in our own pics. Australian comedian Celeste Barber is here to make us all stop doing the latter, and laugh at her instead.
Earlier this year, Barber started poking fun at the ridiculously beautiful selfie phenomenon by posting Instagrams of herself imitating the likes of Kim Kardashian, Miranda Kerr, and Gisele Bundchen, and tagging them #celestechallengeaccepted. As she attempts to pose athletically in lingerie, "flaunt her curves" in a pile of dirt, flip her hair in a perfect semicircle in the ocean, look seductive while eating French fries — her failure is a beautiful and hilarious thing.
Which are her favorites? "I LOVE the shots with when my husband is in them with me, he's such a good sport. The one where I'm mimicking Gisele and flicking my hair in the beach was fun but so far I think the Kim K on the dirt pile has been my favourite," Barber told us via email.

"Really I am turning the mirror back on the celebrities as I am very pro-woman and I get frustrated when people say you should be or act a certain way," the writer and actress told the Daily Mail Australia. "People take it all too seriously, they have such an obsession with celebrities, the rich, the privileged and all these life-style blogger but yet the celebrities think they are doing normal things. Kim Kardashian posing in a pile of dirt — who does that in real life?"
Well, now Barber does. And we are all grateful for it. Here are a few more, in case you need convincing to follow her and/or would like to challenge her to create new homages.
She's also busy with other projects, telling us she, "just finished filming a show 'How Not To Behave' for the ABC. I have a few writing projects that I'm doing with a friend, trying to get our own show up. I'm also working on my YouTube channel YOUR Welcome which looks at the phenomenon of Model turned Blogger."
