Robyn Lawley wore her Aussie pride — literally — for tonight's Teen Choice Awards. The Sydney-born model went with a sunny curve-hugging yellow floral dress by Australian designer Alex Perry. With a trim bow, a scalloped hem, and a color that matched the surroundings, the dress was a very sweet selection for the Choice Model nominee and accomplished plus-size model. Perry is billed as "Australia's premier couturier; fellow model fangirls include Miranda Kerr and Elle Macpherson. Lawley has worn Perry's designs in a couple of her notable shoots for major titles.
Lawley also represents the only non-straight-size model in the category, and is up against runway staples Gigi Hadid, Karlie Kloss, Kendall Jenner, Hailey Baldwin, and even a defector — model-turned-actress Cara Delevingne. Lawley has a lot of firsts to her name in the fashion-glossy sphere: The Wilhelmina-repped beauty was the first plus-size model to appear in Sports Illustrated's pages, as well as the first plus-size model to rate a Vogue Australia cover. She was also Elle France's second plus-size cover girl, and has shot with Steven Meisel for Vogue Italia. Last month, she got vocal on Twitter about Instagram's weeklong ban on the hashtag #curvy, calling the temporarily shutdown "ridiculous censorship."
"I'm honored to even be [a part] of this fine selection of awesome models, I love and follow all those girls," Lawley wrote of her Teen Choice Awards nomination in a Facebook post last month.
