Trans Woman Brutally Killed In A Church Parking Lot

Tamara Dominguez was in a church parking lot when a car hit her and ran over her body at least two or three times, according to witnesses. Dominguez, a trans woman from Kansas City, MO, died from her injuries on Saturday night; it's not yet clear who attacked her or who she was with that evening. Sadly, this is becoming an all-too familiar tale. At least 12 other trans women have been murdered in the U.S. this year. In the past several weeks, India Clarke was discovered beaten to death in Florida, K.C. Haggard was stabbed to death in front of multiple witnesses in California, and Amber Monroe was fatally shot in Detroit. The families of these victims have advocated to qualify these murders as hate crimes; police have not yet qualified Dominguez's death as such. Witnesses at the scene of the crime assert the car that hit Dominguez was a black Chevy Avalanche SUV. Her family said they did not recognize the vehicle or know who Tamara was out with that evening. According to a friend, Dominguez may have spoken heatedly with the driver. "We understand that maybe they were arguing, but it's not fair for what he did. It ain't fair," Juan Rendon told local station KCTV5 News. "He doesn't know she has family," he said of Dominguez's attacker. A GoFundMe page has been set up in Tamara's name to pay for funeral services and transport her body back to loved ones in Mexico. "She had her mom. She had her nephews, brothers, and sisters — that person didn't think about what he did," Rendon added.
