Just in case watching reruns of Friends and going to Friends trivia night isn't enough for you, the internet unearthed a deleted scene from season 8 episode 3, "The One Where Rachel Tells All." The backstory: This episode aired October 11, 2001, right after the tragic events of September 11 in New York City. The clip, which was pulled after September 11, surfaced in 2007 on YouTube and went viral this week.
Naturally, the scene was pulled for a good reason, even if at the time of filming it seemed innocuous. In the scene, Chandler and Monica are at the airport heading off to their honeymoon, only to be delayed after Chandler makes a joke — about bombs. The two then get detained while Chandler makes even more ill-timed jokes. Following the September 11 attacks, this scene was swapped out for another where Monica gets competitive with another newlywed couple. Of course, Friends wasn't the only show to make edits post 9/11. Splitsider has a full collection of television edits here, most notably Sex and the City, which had to edit out the Twin Towers, replacing those shots with the Empire State Building.
