As the E! eight-part docudrama I Am Cait rounds the corner to its sixth episode, we find Caitlyn Jenner beginning to explore what kind of relationship she would like to have. In a preview clip for this Sunday's installment, she tells her friend Jennifer Finney Boylan that she's looking for a "normal relationship."
"It would be very attractive to me to have a guy treat me like a woman," Jenner says. Boylan, the best-selling author of She's Not There: A Life in Two Genders and an activist who was the first openly transgender co-chair of GLAAD's National Board of Directors, questions Jenner on what she means when she uses the word normal.

"Like any other woman on the street, and not make it this big trans thing... Just a normal relationship," Jenner explains.
"You know what? Caitlyn Jenner, you are a normal woman. Right now, today," Boylan replies. "You don't need a man to make you a woman. A woman can make you a woman. Something that women do, we look to men to give us self-worth... Now that you're in the sisterhood — you have gone to such trouble to become a woman: Don't be a stupid one. Be a smart one."
The harsh but empowering advice comes as Jenner tries to negotiate her way through life as a transgender woman, facing the struggles of self-acceptance that all women face. We don't need a man or a woman to validate us, we just need self-confidence! Thank goodness Jenner has Boylan by her side to remind her of that, like a great friend should.
