Get ready for a spectacle: When Miley Cyrus hits the stage at Los Angeles’ Microsoft Theater to host MTV's Video Music Awards tomorrow night, she has "free rein," Garrett English, the award show's executive producer, told Entertainment Weekly.
"Obviously, there are standards and various other things that were always a part of it, but no, [no rules]...," English continued. "It never comes from a place of trying to limit the range, it’s always coming from a place of trying to open up the full palate."
And while some more conservative folk may still be reeling from Cyrus' now notorious twerking performance opposite Robin Thicke in 2013, English and the powers that be at MTV didn't give it a second thought when the subject of a Cyrus-hosted awards show came to the table. "Miley has been fantastic. It was sort of a logical extension of conversations that we’re happening [sic]," English told the magazine. "Both her camp and ours were immediately excited by it."
On her part, Miley shared some of her pre-VMA excitement during Tumblr's "Answer Time" yesterday, telling fans that her favorite VMA moment "hasn't happened yet," because "dis gonna be da craziest vmazzzz of allllll herstory!" The pop star also told followers that to her, rainbows taste like avocado, but we digress.
Whatever the irrepressible songstress has in store, we know the topless-cake-eating, pasties-wearing, sometimes rainbow-haired Ms. Cyrus will bring her A-game. And we'll be watching.
