What is the first thing you would do after leaving the courthouse with your divorce finalized? For some, taking a #divorceselfie is right at the top of the list. This burgeoning trend is starting to go viral on social media for couples who are coping with their divorce — or want the world to know it's not that big a deal.
The Washington Post notes that the trend often encompasses positive messages, especially those about co-parenting and staying friends, but without the regret and stigma often attached to divorce. These #divorceselfie pragmatists (or are they optimists?) are simply showing us that it doesn't have to be the worst day of your life or even the end of your relationship as friends. The trend seems to be international, with couples from North America, South America, and Europe catching on. One of the more adorable is this Budapest couple, who look perfectly happy about their decision to divorce.

If you're unhappy and you know it, do the thing that's going to make you happy. And even though Socality Barbie showed us yesterday that the images we see on social media aren't necessarily authentic, sometimes putting up a cheerful front is the first step toward healing. So snap away, newly single folk!
