Serena and Venus Williams Will Make You Want To Call Your Sister

No matter how fiercely we may fight with our sisters, it's safe to say no rivalry will ever compare to the one Serena and Venus Williams put on display Tuesday night at the U.S. Open. Even if the fierce and furious (and seriously impressive) match made siblings everywhere cringe, the Williams sisters' huge hug after the match must have inspired a million phone calls.

The two world-class tennis players met in the tournament's quarterfinals. If Serena, 33, makes it to the final and wins, she'll be only the third woman to win all four Grand Slam tournament titles in a single calendar year, and the first since 1988. But before Serena could cement her status as the best athlete on Earth, she had to send 35-year-old Venus home. They've never gone easy on each other on the court, even when they played together in doubles matches. Last night was no exception, but after Serena won, both sisters had glowing things to say. “I think that would be huge, not just for me, but for my family, just for what it represents and how hard we have worked and where we come from,” Venus said, according to The Guardian. “But at the same time," Venus added, "if it doesn’t happen, it’s not going to make or break you. We don’t have anything to prove. She has nothing to prove. She’s really the best ever, so what are you going to do? Just try to make it. If you don’t, then that’s that and go to the next one.” Said Serena, “She’s the toughest player I’ve ever played in my life, and the best person I know. So it’s going against your best friend and at the same time for me going against the greatest competitor in women’s tennis." Serena is two victories away from one of the rarest feats in tennis, and it's a safe bet that no one will be cheering louder on Saturday than her big sis.
