If you've ever had those post-runway-show "need-it-now" feels, Lauren Conrad has just made your wishes come true. While we're used to waiting six months for a runway collection to hit retailers, then another six months hoping for a sale, Conrad has passed go and skipped straight for the second step. Although it has us scratching our heads at the too-good-to-be-true aspect, her spring 2016 collection is already advertising markdowns, just six days after its launch.
The former Hills-star-turned-fashion-designer-slash-lifestyle guru made her New York Fashion Week debut this past Wednesday with LC Runway, a branch off her Kohl's line, LC Lauren Conrad. Unlike most brands that use NYFW to showcase clothing months before their public release, LC Runway's 100-plus-piece collection was made immediately available for purchase on Kohl's site after the show. True to the underlying adage of accessibility that unites all of Conrad's enterprises, retail prices run low, from $12 for a pair of twig-embellished hair clips to $300 for a minimal pastel leather backpack.
But take a glance at Kohl's homepage today, and you'll find banners advertising 25% off all stock from the LC Lauren Conrad Runway. Heading into its sixth year, the collaboration between Kohl's and Conrad has had a steady consumer audience, after forays with Minnie Mouse and the like. The new line is said to be inspired by enchanted woodlands themes, and it sports Conrad design staples like a pastel palette and feminine textiles.
Maybe the quick discount turnaround is all a promotion for the new boundaries Conrad and Kohl's are attempting to push by going into serious fashion fare, or maybe it falls in line with Kohl's renowned affordable prices. Either way, there's definitely something to be excited about in not having to wait the requisite time for a sale to snatch up your favorite runway looks ASAP. We can only dream that our favorite NYFW-seasoned designers would ever dare to do the same.
