Surprise! A movie starring Ryan Gosling and Brad Pitt is headed your way this Christmas.
Your favorite feminist icon and a facial-hair-sporting Mr. Angelina Jolie star alongside Christian Bale and Steve Carell in The Big Short, a film based on the book by Michael Lewis (Moneyball, The Blind Side) about guys who saw the financial crisis on its way and used it to their advantage.
The movie is directed by Adam McKay, the mastermind behind Will Ferrell comedies like the Anchorman movies and Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby. And yet, it appears that Steve Carell is in serious mode here, rather than reprising his Brick Tamland schtick.
While the likes of Melissa Leo, Marisa Tomei, Karen Gillan, and Selena Gomez (!) are in the cast, from the looks of the trailer, this one's about the dudes. Of the two women who have dialogue in the trailer, one is told she's wrong, and the other is a stripper. There are some ladies in bikinis, though!
The Big Short will company among some other dude-heavy movies this the fall: Alejandro González Iñárritu's The Revenant, which finds Leonardo DiCaprio alone in the snow, and Ron Howard's In the Heart of the Sea, which finds Chris Hemsworth battling a whale.
