Could the summer of the man bun be officially over? After New York Times commenters went off on the style last week (one even referred to it as “the mullet of the '80s”), it appears the message has reached some of our friends in Hollywood. Leonardo DiCaprio, patron saint of the style — who's been sporting it with a massive, bushy beard — emerged recently as a new, clean-shaven man. (And one who is refocusing his efforts on global warming, at that.)
While the lumberjack look was mostly Leo in character for his upcoming film The Revenant (in which he actually plays a fur trapper), it appears that he maintained the scruff way past shoot time. We can't say we're sad to see it go. The long hair and beard overwhelmed his appearance, but his sleek, side-parted cut and minimal facial hair open up that beautiful face in all its Titanic-era glory. Which look do you prefer?
