It's something no one wants to see when scrolling through their feed: An announcement of a young teenager's death. And when the teenager is a 13-year-old YouTuber with over a million subscribers, the reverberations are heard around the internet. Hundreds of thousands of fans — many of them tweens and teenagers — have taken to social media to express their grief, send prayers, and post sweet notes in memory of Caleb Logan Bratayley.
"Yesterday at 7:08PM Caleb Logan Bratayley passed away of natural causes," the family's Instagram post read on Friday. "This has come as a shock to all of us. Words cannot describe how much we will miss him."
On Monday, the family provided another update, saying, "Caleb's death has raised many questions about how and why this could happen to a seemingly healthy boy. Sadly, tests have confirmed today that Caleb passed away from an undetected medical condition. We'll have more definitive answers in the coming weeks but ask that you help us celebrate his life instead of focus on his death."
The post goes on to say that the memorial will be live-streamed, "due to an outpouring of support and people's hope to be part of his memorial."
