Downton Abbey fans looking to fill the dowager-sized hole in their hearts have reason to celebrate. Variety reports that anyone looking to get a taste of the show's signature drama, intrigue, and upstairs-downstairs cavorting will soon be able to walk in the footsteps of the Crawley family. Downton Abbey: The Exhibition, which opens at Singapore's Marina Bay Sands this year and the U.S. later in 2018, will be a fully immersive experience that'll satisfy the period drama's most die-hard fans.
"Downton Abbey is a global phenomenon and viewers all around the world continue to ask for more," Michael Edelstein, president of NBCUniversal International Studios, told Variety. "Downton Abbey: The Exhibition allows this incredible legacy to live on by offering a multi-million dollar, museum-quality experience that will delight fans, ultimately extending the connection they have with Downton's compelling characters and storylines."
The exhibit will include plenty of exposition along with costumes and recreations of various sets. Condé Nast Traveler adds that the exhibit will explore the "PBS show's historical context from World War I and into the 1920s, and showcase some of the characters' detailed costumes, including hats and dresses worn by Maggie Smith’s dowager countess, Michelle Dockery's Lady Mary, and Hugh Bonneville's Lord Crawley."
But the best part might be experiencing the reproductions of the abbey itself. The touring show will include life-size dioramas of the servants' quarters, Mrs. Patmore's kitchen, and more. Even better? The tour will include never-before-seen clips from the show that met an untimely demise on the cutting room floor. That may be reason enough to pull your bonnet on and get to the traveling exhibit. While there are no details yet on what cities it'll hit or how much it'll cost, fans can request a personal invite (aka more info) via the exhibit's website.
