This Artist Is Turning Stretch Marks Into Art — & It's AMAZING

Every morning, I start my day by dry brushing my entire body. But the one spot I focus on most is the back of my thighs and butt. Why? I have stretch marks all over them, and for years I’ve been told that consistent exfoliation will smooth and refine those lines. So, I scrub and scrub and scrub to try to erase them all. But there’s one artist who wants me, and other women, to stop hating and start embracing those marks — and she’s taking over the internet with her colorful and empowering message.
Barcelona-based artist and feminist Cinta Tort Cartró, also known as Zinteta on social media, is turning women’s stretch marks into works of art — and it's amazing. Her Instagram feed is flooded with photos of rainbow stripes, pastel lines, and neon waves painted onto various female bodies celebrating what is traditionally seen as flaws or "imperfections." The 21-year-old told Yahoo Beauty “It all started as a form of expression, but it quickly turned into social commentary of the male-dominated culture we live in.”

Cartró says she's ready to change the conversation around society's outdated beauty standards. She told Yahoo,“I grew up feeling sometimes out of place. I’m tall and big, so it’s important for me to state in my art that everyone is beautiful and those ‘flaws’ are not that. They make us unique and special.”
But it’s not just stretch marks in her photo series. You’ll also notice rainbow splotches on underwear to represent period stains that are often presented as shameful. Cartró doesn't have time for anyone's stigmas — and neither do we. We can't wait to see what subject she takes on next.
