These Twitch Streamers Are All About The Good Inclusive Vibes

When we started Refinery29 Twitch, we knew we wanted to use it not only to provide a fun, safe space for women and non-binary folks to share in their love of gaming, but also to spotlight the pros, gamers, and streamers who are pushing the status quo in the industry both online and IRL. But with a vast world of content creators competing for attention on Twitch alone, finding streamers who you love can be a challenge. 

Enter Tuesday Takeovers, where we invite some of our fave under-the-radar streamers onto our channel to do what they do best: game. Think of it as the Discover Weekly of Twitch where you’ll have two hours of guaranteed entertainment weekly, while also discovering talented streamers who are more than worthy of you clicking the follow or subscribe button. Ahead, read on to meet the Twitch streamers who are all about inclusivity, connecting with others, and having fun. 

PleasantlyTwstd says they “play tryhard games well, puzzle games mediocre, and vibe on JRPGS” and also counts Sonic The Hedgehog as one of their favorite things. Aside from a love of gaming — including development — the part-time content creator is passionate about activism for Black and queer communities and accessibility (especially when it comes to video game design). Come to their channel hungry: you’ll often find them eating or asking those in the chat what they’re snacking on.

If you love Fortnite, you’ll love moreplants. She’s primarily a Fortnite streamer who loves playing squads with her community (called “The Sprout Squad”), but she’ll also dabble in FPS titles (think Call Of Duty) and the occasional cozy title. Outside of gaming, she’s also a watercolor artist.

JackieBee is all about horror games — such as Dead By Daylight and narrative thrillers — but don’t be scared: She approaches them with sass and “a sprinkle” of chaotic energy. While she’s bringing screams to her channel, she also aims to create a space full of laughs, heart, and authenticity, where mental health, the LGBTQIA+ community, and BIPOC rights matter.

Crafting stories (often dramatic ones!) through The Sims is Malixa’s specialty. That’s the franchise that takes up the majority of her time as a full-time content creator, as she works on gameplay and CAS (Create A Sim). She also likes chatting while doing so, touching on anything from anime, blind boxes, and her love of boba. 

Turn off your current playlist and head to Arilyna’s channel instead. The full-time music streamer is a neoclassical piano player who fills her content with stunning renditions of video game, film, & TV soundtracks — and she even improvises! She’s also a gamer when she’s not streaming, and has a penchant for horror and survival games.

Soohee is a fashion-loving variety RPG creator who is often streaming first playthroughs of popular video game series, like Monster Hunter Wilds. Beyond streaming, she spends her free time reading fiction and watching video essays about various games, and she’s also a big Star Wars fan. 

Meet airiesummer, a streamer who describes herself as a “super variety” content creator — meaning you can find her exploring a genuinely vast range of topics and titles. To date, she’s featured more than 1,850 games (many of which have been indie) on her channel. She’s also incredibly community-focused: she received recognition from Queen Elizabeth II for her contributions to charity and mental healthcare, and is always using her channel to shine a light and give to causes she cares about (for example, she donates her ad revenue and has a “donate” button instead of “subscribe” one at the top of her Twitch page). Currently, airiesummer is raising money for the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI).

Mellana is a former competitive Splatoon player and commentator who is now a chatty, family-friendly variety streamer. She’s passionate about supporting the LGBTQIA+ and POC communities, and also uses her offline experiences as a teacher in low-income areas to spread awareness about the challenges and socioeconomic disparities that exist in the education system today.
