As if prepping for the summer months wasn’t tedious enough (queue the spray tans, countless hours at the nail salon, and the never-ending waxes down under), now we have the opportunity to build our own bikinis, too! Described as the bathing suit “for women with their own unique vision of fashion,” Itsykini is the brainchild of Parisian designer Annie-Claude Toledano.
The bandeau or triangle top comes in three basic hues — black, silver, and gold — and allows the swimmer to choose from eleven poppy colors of ties and strings to assemble the bikini according to her mood. The basic suits run between $145-$165, depending on the finish, and it's about $15 for every additional color. The idea is that wearers can try candy pink if they're feeling flirty, or get wild with leopard print if they want. The combinations are virtually endless, however the result looks like the wearer is a little, erm, bow heavy (not to mention, if you lose a strap or tie, that colorway is done for).
Since we’re all about showcasing originality here at R29, we’re curious to know: Would you actually wear a bikini you had to string together yourself?
