Sephora + Pantone’s Tech-Savvy Foundation Gadget Debuts In S.F.!

main
Being the 21st century, city-dwelling gals we are, we’re pretty well-adjusted to constantly having technology all up in our mugs — from face timing to those Instagram selfies. And now, Sephora is adding one more innovative gadget to place front and center of our faces, all for the benefit of our complexion! Introducing...the Sephora + Pantone IQ reader that has the capability of identifying our skin’s true foundation shade.

How does it work? Sephora and Pantone teamed up to create a database of over 1,500 different foundation formulas that the reader will use to decipher one's tone — and now it's totally available in our hilly city.
The process goes a little something like this: Sephora's in-store beauty technician will place the handheld reader on three different sections of your face — the forehead, cheek, and neck — to cohesively decode your exact Pantone SkinTone Number. The routine takes less than ten minutes, and once you have your accurate shade sku, a list of products matching your tone will appear. To help weave through the brands, you can specify the products according to your skin’s needs based on coverage level, skin type, ingredients, and more.

Best yet, you won’t have to slide your plastic for the service, and the results will be sent to your email inbox, so your days of embarrassing mismatched jaw lines are officially over. This jazzy new service just debuted in S.F. this month and is now available in 26 U.S. locations — including at the Sephora downtown! Get at it.
