5 Can’t-Miss Rock Shows This Week

Art Brut at Double Door, 6/14, $15. You know how we feel about boys from Britain. It's hard to tell if Art Brut is kidding in about half of their "art-wave" songs, or if they're really trying to crank out a genre all to themselves. Either way, we're entertained, which is the point. We think. Double Door, 1572 North Milwaukee Avenue (at Damen Avenue); 773-489-3160.

Future Islands at Subterranean, 6/14, $12 in advance. A joyous romp in the '80s is what awaits you at a Future Islands show, and you'll like it. Indie rock that sounds..dare we say...happy? Can you handle that?
Subterranean, 2011 West North Avenue (at Damen Avenue); 773-278-6600.

The Laureattes at The Beat Kitchen, 6/17, $8. Big local band, small ticket price. Yeah, we'll take it. Aside from being mega-talented (and mega-cute, whoops), The Laureattes give us Chicagoans another solid rock band to brag about. So, thanks.
The Beat Kitchen, 2100 West Belmont Avenue (at Hoyne Avenue); 773-281-4444.

The Postelles at Schubas, 6/17, $12 in advance. Sell out alert! You've got time, but not much. If you'd care to see a band that thinks it's making indie rock in the '50s, this band is for you. Why is everything from Williamsburg amazing?
Schubas, 3159 North Southport Avenue (at Belmont Avenue); 773-525-2508.

Florence and the Machine at The Aragon Ballroom, 6/18, $26.25. You know you want to be her, just admit it and then buy a ticket, you'll feel better. With a voice of fury (and hair to match), we've been waiting to see this megababe tear up Chicago for a long time. Now's our chance.
Aragon Ballroom, 1106 West Lawrence Avenue (at Broadway Street); 773-561-9500.
