A Fannypack We Can Really Get Behind

When we think of fannypacks, our head space shifts to littering tourists at the Grand Canyon or mass Japanese tours of Paris. But get ready to shift perceptions for 2011—we just got wind of this super, super-luxe belt bag courtesy of SANG A. NYC-based designer Sang A Im-Propp, known for her exotic skin and leather goods, has redefined the typical travel accessory for dorks everywhere (and, yes, this editor may have worn one of the GORE-TEX varieties on occasion), creating three sculpted, double wave offerings with a sash belt in white rustic alligator, or silky nubuck in black or white. Of course, the price tag isn't exactly wallet-friendly (even if your wallet happens to be, say, Hermès croc). The fancy fannypacks start at a cool $895, while the gator models clocks in at $1,995....perhaps more suited for The Tourist as played by Angelina Jolie rather than our next trip on Jet Blue. Then again, 2011 might be the year we strike lottery gold.
SANG A Rise Belt Bags, available at Debut, 298 Mulberry Street (at Lafayette Street); 212-343-2717, and SANG A.
