Someone told us once: "You can marry more money in a minute than you can make in a lifetime." An interesting piece of advice, one that designers Viktor Horsting and Rolf Snoeren of eponymous line Viktor & Rolf might have heard recently considering their soon-to-be-announced partnership with Italian holding company Only the Brave. It's an interesting marriage but a promising one: The organically- and ethically-minded holding company, owned by Renzo Rosso, and the notoriously high-drama couture house haven't made any rash decisions here…
"We talked for two years," says Snoeren, "because it is such an important step. We wanted to make sure we marry the right partner. Renzo understands creativity and has the vision and power to make a success." In selling a controlling stake of the company to Only the Brave, Viktor & Rolf joins an illustrious family of brands including Dsquared and Maison Martin Margiela. With big plans—at least five projected store openings and an expansion into new product categories—the designers certainly picked a good time to strike a deal. It always pays to marry up.
