Adam Kimmel Stages a Jailbreak for Spring/Summer ’09

Good thing it's Halloween, otherwise we might have been a little scared of Adam Kimmel's spring/summer '09 lookbook—what with all the prison suits, pirates, and Dennis Hopper. Kimmel is known for two things—his smart, casual take on the dress codes of '50s artist cults and his very personal, very unique lookbooks shot by Alexei Hay. This season, he sticks to the formula—the jumpsuits, for men and women, are bright and smart, the patterns (including those stripes that showed up in Robert Geller's and others' collections) are bold, and the linen is nice and loose. The lookbook itself featured the aforementioned easy rider along with downtown faves Amber Tamblyn, Tony Shafrazi, and Don Bachardy—characters of varying ages all wearing canaries, blues, and blacks cut in workwear forms and relaxed takes on that "Mad Men" style that's been driving people a little nuts for the last two years.
