We've been keeping a keen eye on the fragrance counters ever since we started noticing the popularity of celebrity scents was waning. What could possibly be the next big trend in perfume? Let's just say it's not at all what we were expecting — footwear fragrances. Jimmy Choo kicked it off with an eponymous scent; then Nine West threw a hat...erm shoe, into the ring with a stiletto-inspired fragrance; now Aldo is getting in the game with their own line of men's and women's scents.
Rather than classify fragrances into categories based on their notes (i.e. fuity floral, gourmand, woodsy), the A is for Aldo collection of his and hers fragrances tailors its scents for specific personalities. Playing off the idea that colors are just as different as identities, Aldo's scents are named by hue: Red for the passionate, sensual, free-spirited ladies; Yellow for the girly girls, and Blue for the glamour gals. For the classic man of action, Red will do the trick, while the sporty dude should feel right at home with Yellow.

We were wary of the launch at first — the shoe juggernaut does a great job of churning out on-trend accessories, but how would that fast-fashion talent translate into a fragrance? Apparently, quite well. The matte, almost ceramic-like bottles are minimalist-chic and the scents themselves are quite appealing. We're also kind of obsessed with the cool stop-motion video created by Barnaby Roper, to introduce the scent.
Are you down with Aldo's fragrance line, or do you think they should just stick to shoes?
