Last night was double trouble. Double gal crush trouble, that is. You know we've been loving Marni scion Carolina Castiglioni lately, and we've always held a candle for model-DJ-everything Alexa Chung, so spotting the two of them together at Marni's exclusive fragrance presentation made for It Girl sensory overload.
While there were a bevy of Fashion Week to-dos yesterday evening (and it hasn't even officially started!),
there was no way we'd miss Marni's shindig at its Meatpacking boutique — after all, you only launch your first perfume once. Did we mention Miss Chung performed a special DJ set? As you can well imagine, bellissimo outfit inspiration was everywhere — Christina Ricci! Mia Moretti! Harley Viera Newton! — but it was Chung's ensemble that really had us tripping (besides, you know, the chic Italian scent that was being spritzed around).
The Brit really showed us how winter casual cocktail style is done, pairing a printed Marni summer-edition top with a Marni winter-edition toggle jacket and a pair of tight, black, high-waisted jeans. Somehow, the varied colors and patterns just work together (and she still looks warm — it was freezing last night!)...and then there's those Marni shoes. Pilgrim? Medieval? Bondage? We're not sure, but we couldn't stop staring. And, of course, smelling (no guys, not Alexa, — we're not that stalkerish, promise.)
