60 Seconds With Andre Leon Talley

This season marks the first year Ruffian has shown at an official Mercedes Benz Fashion Week venue, made all the more exciting as it was one of the inaugural shows at Lincoln Center. And designers Brian Wolk and Claude Morais sure knew how to pack a punch for their step up in the world—the front row was packed with editors like Joann Pailey, Lynn Yaeger, Peter Davis, Kate Lanphear, and Andrew Bevan, plus Ruffian's perennial cheerleader Lorenzo Martone. But the editor that really caught our eye? André Leon Talley, of course! Though the Vogue-er was sitting directly in front of us, we were très nervous to approach him, having just overheard that he was in a "funky mood" (he did call someone out for interviewing him without knowing who he was—but, really, how is that possible?). Well, he couldn't have been more congenial with lil' ole us—he let us snag a hot minute of chatter before the show:

How's working with Tyra Banks?
"It's stupendously...healthy. And wonderful!"

What other words do you want America to start using?

"Well, drekitude—that's my favorite." [duh!]

Any others?
"No. drekitude." [said very definitively]

Where's that jacket from? It's insane!
[gigantic leather rain-coat type contraption].
Pradaaaa! Of course! [how did we not know this?]

What's your biggest Fashion Week vice?
To be healthy, drink a lot of water, hydrate, be well, be mentally world, and get dressed." [we'd like to get dressed every day too]

Any celebrities you're looking forward to seeing?
"I am always looking forward to seeing Serena Williams and Venus Williams."

And that's a grand slam!
