Anyone who is vintage-passionate can attest to being seduced by the smart look of an old handbag. But so often its structure is collapsing, the material is beat-up, and, gawd, that smell.
Anna Corinna to the rescue. For more than a decade, the designer and store owner (Foley & Corinna) has worked her connoisseurship of vintage garb, finding, buying, and selling all things wrought from the past. The designer attests that her favorite items have always been bags and accessories (for years she's made them by hand), hence this week she's unveiled a new collection of covetable bags, many in shoulder styles with deep cavernous shapes the mad-busy can actually use.
The Drawstring in rich tobacco is finally an oversized slouchy style that doesn't look sloppy. The Manhattan Sling is ideal for last-minute weekend disappearances (stuff and go!), and, our favorite, the Lotus, is crafted from canvas and accented in silver leather: translation, it doesn't weigh a ton, but still looks polished.
Anna Corinna bags are available at Foley & Corinna, 114 Stanton Street, 212-529-2338.
