The one piece in my closet I absolutely can't live without is...
I have a vintage orange cashmere sweater by Krizia with a big giraffe on it that I got for $15 on Etsy (including shipping!). This was before the animals-on-sweater trend, and I just thought it was a hilarious "luxury" item to own. The seller was a girl out in Montana who I'm not certain was quite aware of its vintage status or value. When I bought it -- in completely pristine condition -- I felt a little bit like I was getting away with murder. It's so specific to my personality.
Current obsession...
I had to revisit the '80s movies of Mickey Rourke for a project and I'm head over heels with 9 1/2 Weeks, a.k.a. the OG Fifty Shades of Grey. New York City in the '70s/'80s is my favorite era. Kim Basinger's wardrobe in that movie is how I'd dress if I was my physical antithesis -- a tall, statuesque blonde.
The one song I can listen to over and over...and over to is...
In keeping with my affinity for all things disco-era New York, my favorite song is "Love Train" by The O'Jays. It's such a joyful song and it works both in the summertime and during the holidays. There's this amazing final scene in The Last Days of Disco (1998) where Chloë Sevigny and all these New Yorkers are dancing to it while riding an actual subway train and I tear up because I'm such a sap.
