Heading to Bar Tartine? Not so fast. Grub Street (via Inside Scoop) reports that the popular Valencia Street restaurant is closing up shop this week in order to install a 15,000-pound bread machine. The addition of this heavy piece of equipment is just one of the changes that the eatery is implementing before it revamps itself into a sandwich shop-bakery-fancy-restaurant hybrid. Inside Scoop has it that the currently sexy, romantic interiors, including the dark-wood floors and black wall accents (which we love!) will be "dialed down," while the new menu will have a Central- and Eastern-European bent, and the name Bar Tartine might actually disappear altogether. The full turnaround is supposed to be completed around October.
