We’re all guilty of arriving late somewhere because we just had to wait in that behemoth line for a morning bun or mouth-watering sammie at Tartine Bakery. Well folks, there might just be a light at the end of the carb-tastic tunnel. The S.F. staple has just launched a much-anticipated sandwich spot within Bar Tartine specializing in open-faced rye-bread concoctions. Which means, perhaps, those longer-than-life waiting periods are a thing of the past! Or, yanno, a new long-ass line will start forming on Valencia and 17th.
Let’s just say that the fresh-baked bread is only a smidge of what makes this new hotspot climb to the top of our lunch lists. The cute woodsy counter makes ordering a breeze and waiting is actually fun because you get to watch the steaming loaves come out. And with star-quality, lip-smacking menu items, it definitely delivers culinary satisfaction (duh). By the way, are we making you hungry yet?

The menu may be small, but boy, will you have a hard time choosing. We recommend the Lentil Croquette (yoghurt, cucumber, lentil sprouts, tomato, and padron peppers on spelt-slab bread) and the delicious Kefir shake (with ginger and strawberry) — for starters. Once you’ve ordered, the hard part is done! Now all you have to do is grab your letter, take a seat, and relish in lunchtime nirvana.
