The right music can make or break your workout. That's why we tapped some of the best instructors, trainers, and DJs to curate the perfect soundtrack for every session.
This Week: Alexandra Bonetti Perez, founder of Bari Studio
“Whenever there’s music in the background, I can’t help but feel like I’m in a movie,” explains Bari Studio founder Alexandra Bonetti Perez. “And, your workout should feel like an experience.” So, if music sets the tone, it’s up to the muscles to get the job done — and we’d definitely allow Rihanna to provide the soundtrack to our lives.

The barihybrid class (the method has no affiliation to the writer) offers a mix of everything the studio has to offer including dance cardio choreography, rebounding on a trampoline, and strength-training sequences — and the playlist has to be just as diverse as it is upbeat and energizing. Trust us, you need to be in the zone to make it to the end of class.
One of Perez’s favorite tracks from her playlist is “The Fall, Maurice Fulton Remix” by Rhye. The smooth beat feels more jazz than EDM, a welcomed departure from most cardio routine playlists. (But, if your workout needs a beat drop, don’t worry, that’s in the next track.) “It’s upbeat enough to easily do choreography,” she explains. And, after listening to her playlist, we can’t help but feel slight sassy — which is exactly how every week should start.
