Editors’ Picks: Our Top Summer Beauty Buys

After a few clean-outs and some mini upgrades, you've almost got your closet working at optimum levels for spring and summer. Next step: Your beauty routine. Lord knows we are a very—VERY—low maintenance bunch of ladies over here, but we will, however, admit to falling in love with a few new products from time to time. To give you some spring/summer beauty inspiration, we've whittled our lists down to the essentials—lotions, potions, and tubes of color that not only address the needs of thirsty summer skin, but also give us that sunny, healthy glow the season is known for. One more tip: Definitely toss all those old half-used products from when you can't even remember. Time to start fresh, pretty lady.

"My hair can get crazy frizzy in humid weather, and this pomade made of essential oils and mango butter not only hydrates and adds shine but it keeps me from looking like a wild woman. It also travels well and smells amazing, which is great when I want to skip the perfume."

Tarte Natural Lip Stain, $24, available at Sephora. "I turned into my grandmother—I never leave the house without lipstick, not even in the heat of summer. But a friend just turned me onto Tarte's new natural lipstain, and I'm totally psyched there's a light summer product that's devoid of parabens and gross synthetic dyes. Finally!"

"I keep my skin-care routine super simple especially in summer, and I love that this concentrated serum kind of does it all, from stimulating collagen production to reducing those little baby wrinkles that are showing up around my eyes. It seriously makes your skin feel more nourished right after you put it on."

NYX Powder Blush in Pinky, $6, available at NYX. "I have red hair, and while I'm probably not supposed to wear a super pink blush, I always do...it just kind of wakes up my face. Lately, my product of choice is this powder blush in the most perfect rosy-bubblegum shade. I love it and it's only $6!"

Chantecaille Naturelle SPF 46 Face Powder, $65, available at Chantecaille. "I love this effortless, non-toxic totally translucent SPF powder. It goes on easily and almost acts like an incredibly light foundation, smoothing the skin-tone."

NUDE Smoothing Body Refiner, $70, available at NUDE Skincare."I can be quite lazy when it comes to body moisturizing, but this delicious-smelling elixir is truly motivational: It's clinically proven to stimulate circulation and smooth skin using Organic Mountain Ash, Phytoactive Ginger, Green Coffee, and Gingko. Redken Color Extend Sun Solar Screen SPF 12, $12.50, available at Amazon. "My hair is currently dyed a deep aubergine, and I know it'd turn a brassy orange color if left unprotected. This Color Extend Solar Screen is like a pick-me-up for my locks while acting like a sunscreen to keep the color the way I want."

Stila Waterproof Eye Liner, $20, available at Stila.com. "If you're like me, you can't be bothered to sharpen your eyeliner or worry about it melting away by midday. This Stila waterproof eyeliner goes on like butter to a frying pan, but stays on for-freaking-ever."

Topshop Lip Polish in Melba, $12, available at Topshop. "Just a tiny dab gives my lips the most perfect post-popsicle tint."

Thierry Mugler Alien Sunessence 2 oz. Perfume, $80, available at Sephora. "Part citrus, part floral, part amber—this perfume is Thierry Mugler's most energizing scent. While I'm not quite sure I want to smell like a sunbathing Martian, I do know that this is what summer smells like to me."

"Ever since we recommended it in our What To Wear to Coachella story, I've been really into the idea of bronzed skin and light pink lipstick. Maybelline XXL Pro Curl Waterproof Mascara, $7.99, available at Ultra Beauty. "When it comes to mascara, I need to pull out the big guns. This new Maybelline mascara curls, lengthens, and has a priming basecoat to really pump up the ol' lashes."

Caudalíe Beauty Elixer, $16, available at Caudalíe. "I'm totally obsessed with Caudalíe's skincare products because they actually work. This beauty spray is super-duper refreshing (like, addictively so), smells amazing, tightens pores and, for back of a better descriptor, just makes your face look fresh. It will be at-the-ready my purse all summer long."

Stila Bronzing Tinted SPF 15 Moisturizer, $32, available at Sephora. "Despite my Italian roots, I just don't tan. I also hate foundation. So this is kind of my ideal product. It delivers a totally natural golden tone (without the scary commitment of self tanner) and has light tinted coverage and SPF."

M.A.C. To The Beach Nail Lacquer in Scorcher, $12.00, available May 28 at M.A.C. "Now that I know how to do nail art, I'd wear this juicy, delicious red as the base, paint the tips green and white, and dot with black 'seeds' to turn my nails into little summer watermelons."
