Never one to make a big fuss over its birthday, Bergdorf Goodman is bucking its wallflower MO in favor of extravagance to celebrate its 111-year-young status. If that age seems an odd number to commemorate, it’s because it's meant to represent Bergdorf’s identity as “being one story in one city, providing one singular luxury experience.” Sounds like the right kind of fashion math to us, especially when 111 designers are all contributing exclusive pieces of the most opulent variety.
Like anyone planning the birthday of their dreams knows, one day is simply inadequate. There’s no shortage of events or activities following the September 4 kickoff, not to mention key renovations to pay attention to, like its new Modernist Lab on the fifth floor featuring the store's advanced designer collections, a Christian Dior beauty shop, the first U.S. shop-in-shop of both Valentino and The Row, as well as an expanded children's section (complete with a candy bar). A sprinkling of various pop-up shops will also take place throughout the fall, as the department store looks back on over a century's worth of history.
