The Best Summer Wines In L.A. For Under $14

Whether you need a light rosé for a beachy picnic, some bubbly for summer brunch mimosas, or a few easy drinking reds for that al fresco dinner party, Whitney Adams, resident sommelier at DomaineLA and writer of the very awesome wine blog, Brunellos Have More Fun, can hook you up. We asked this vino all-star for her seven favorite summer wines for under $14. No two buck chuck here, just delicious wines that won’t break the bank. Time to stock up for summer.

Bubbles:
NV Sommariva Prosecco, $13
“My favorite all-purpose sparkler. It’s clean, crisp, and as wonderful as a spritz with a splash of Aperol and an orange slice.”

Whites:
2009 Bera Arcese, $12
“Slightly sparkling and a little fruity, the bottle will be empty before you know it. It’s a great poolside sipper or, perhaps with a fried chicken and jalapeño slaw sandwich.”

2009 Etz Gruner, $12
“One of our all-time best-sellers. The taste is fresh, lime-y, and mineral driven. The fact that it comes in a liter bottle is just a bonus, and it pretty much goes with everything.”

Rosés:
2010 Muralhas Vinho Verde rosé, $12
“This one was a huge hit last summer, and the new vintage does not disappoint. With a touch of effervescence, it's super fun and flirty. Take this to the Hollywood Bowl for an evening concert under the stars—it's the ultimate crowd-pleaser.”

2010 Liquiere A Mi Chemin, $11.50
“A lovely little Southern French wine. It tastes of strawberry fruit, but it’s always clean and easy. This will be one of my go-to pink wines this summer because it's super versatile and the price is excellent.”

Reds:
2010 Lapierre Raisins Gauloise, $13
“We are dubbing this the picnic red of the summer. It’s all fruit, light and lovely. I recommend you serve this slightly chilled with BBQ chicken and potato salad.”

2009 Chidaine Touraine rouge, $13.50
“A Loire Valley blend that has a little black pepper, spice, and ripe red fruit. This would be delicious with lamb burgers on the grill.”
