We're big fans of all things locally made, and music is no exception — from house shows to headlining gigs at 9:30 Club, we love seeing local musicians do what they do best. And we have a real weakness for Christmas music. (Side note: Every time Stevie Wonder belts out what Christmas means to him, we want to jump into footed PJs, slide down a banister, and run headlong into a pile of presents.)
So, we were beyond excited to learn that one of our favorite area acts, the awesomely dreamy duo Birdlips, recorded a special Christmas album for friends and family. The songs are old standbys, but musicians Lindsay Pitts and Cliff Usher put their own samba-soaked spin on them, and the result is an album that feels cool but classic enough to play while you and your loved ones dig into holiday meals. No joke — we've had it on loop for the past few days. Take a listen here, and download for a price of your choosing. Just remember the spirit of generosity — it's Christmas, after all!
